About Shilpgram, Udaipur

A Living Museum of Rural Arts and Crafts

Shilpgram, literally meaning “Craftsmen’s Village” is an expansive rural arts and crafts complex nestled at the foot of the Aravalli hills just 3 km west of Udaipur. Established by the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) it serves as a vibrant living ethnographic museum dedicated to preserving and promoting the diverse folk and tribal arts, crafts, and architecture of the Western Indian states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. Spread over 70 acres the complex features over 26 authentic huts constructed with natural materials each meticulously replicating the traditional rural homes and lifestyles of their respective regions. It is a vital platform for artisans to showcase their skills sell their unique creations and bridge the gap between rural traditions and urban audiences.
