About Jal Mahal, Jaipur
A Jewel Floating on Man Sagar Lake
Jal Mahal literally the “Water Palace” is one of Jaipur’s most photographed and enchanting sights. This architectural masterpiece appears to float gracefully in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake surrounded by the Aravalli hills. Built primarily in the 18th century and later renovated by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the palace is a perfect blend of Rajput and Mughal styles with its symmetrical architecture, intricate carvings, and beautiful gardens. Of its five stories four remain submerged beneath the water with only the top floor visible, creating a stunning visual illusion that changes with the water level. The palace serves as a captivating testament to the architectural ingenuity and aesthetic sense of the Jaipur royalty.
